Yes, back from Con and what
dallendoug said on his entry (minus the EveCon comment. . .I was entirely too young for that ;-).
In short, this is my first full experience of a convention ever. And oh boy is it the best. . .thought nothing could top last year, but I was so wrong (
starsoup7 and I crashed the Con last year for a 24 hour trip). Until I can gather my thoughts more coherenly later in the week, here are some highlights:
- my portrait done by one of the coolest, generous and talented artist at Con, Andy Lee, who has been on tour for a while now, with one of my favorite comic artist/writer, David Mack (creator of Kabuki, who I dressed up as for last Halloween). We became fast friends with Andy, and it all snowballed from there. . .This man is too awesome for words, please buy a print from him.
- Got my mask signed by David Mack. Now I can peacefully retired the cracked, fragile mask that she is. Time for a new one for next year, perhaps something fiberglassy. :-D
- partying with Andy, Stuart Sayger (who's also touring with David Mack), the infamous Yaya, her posh of creative people and our next door neighbors and
its_just_doc. These people are the sweetest, nicest, hilarious, and most talented group of people
dallendoug and I had the pleasure of knowning on this trip. Incredibly inspiring to know such humble, wacky asian artists. Totally changed my perspective and opening my eyes to the next generation of the Asian-American artist culture. Well, our neighbors aren't asians, just some of the artists, but they're definitely wacky too ;-). OOh and did I mention fun? I'm still recovering from laughing too much. (pic of Andy, myself and Stuart in their booth )
- the talented
starsoup7 made up
papercuppie and teased the hell out of our hair so that we could have a posing/photoshoot session in our room. Again, not many good pics came out of that except one, but we had a hell of a time dressing up and pretending to look somber on our hotel beds.
papercuppie looked stunning! Reminds me of how much I truly miss my camera.
- The Serenity panel was a blast. I've never laughed so hard at a panel before. The chemistry was truly a pleasure to experience. Ron Glass rocked and so does Adam Baldwin!
- In support of Serenity the movie, Doug and I dressed up as Browncoat & Saloon Girl (photo courtesy of
ceosanna) as our last minture costume put-together cause we had no time to prepare and decided to fuck it and had a blast with whatever we brought.
- finally, a taste of the "Vegas rules" . . .*smile*

I really enjoyed hanging out with you all. It was great fun. presently we are trying to organizing something for Charlotte, NC on the 22nd. Our very, very good friend Andy of Combichrist is playing there with Genitorturers. I can certainly help if someone wants a ride. I realize the timing sucks but well all we can do is try.
All the Best,
~Doc
we will put together a photo album and I will most definitely send you the link to download the pics.
We had a whole lotta fun too. It was great that Tigger's and our rooms were joined. Combichrist was really good when we saw them perform at Con. . .I didn't know you're friends with them :-). Please pass along my compliments as I really enjoyed their concert. I have to check with scheduling and such for the concert on the 22nd, but if we could make it, I'll let you know!!
ps. Thanks for all the photos. Very glad you and
Great. Like I didn't feel old enough this week.
Hope you feel better.
